What is a customer-facing AI agent?

A customer-facing AI agent interacts with your users directly, in support, sales, shopping or onboarding. Unlike an internal copilot, it acts in front of the customer, so what it knows about them decides whether it helps.

Facing the customer

A customer-facing agent talks to your users, not your team. It answers support questions, guides a purchase, helps through onboarding. That raises the bar, because a wrong or generic answer is seen by the customer, and an agent that asks what it should already know erodes trust.

What makes one useful

The gap between a useful customer-facing agent and a frustrating one is rarely the model. It is what the agent knows about the person in front of it: their history, their current session, where they are stuck. An agent grounded in that can be specific; one without it falls back on a generic script.

What it needs

Three things: a way to read the customer’s current state, memory of past interactions, and the ability to act within safe limits. The first two are context and memory; the third is the guardrails and tools you give it.

See it on your own traffic

Add the SDK, define one attribute, and see an attribute updating against your own traffic in the first session. The free tier runs on the real engine: no card, no sales call.
